TSgt Robert S. Shepard, is the Flight Chief for the Combat Readiness Flight in the 732nd Air Mobility Squadron, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. He leads 22 civilian and military personnel in the management of 172 Squadron Programs including: Commanders Inspection Program, Plans Function, Command Support Staff, and Unit Training.
Technical Sergeant Shepard was born in Ocala, Florida on 30 April 1990. He attended Allendale Academy and graduated in 2008. During High school Sergeant Shepard was a member of the Honor’s Society and the Beta Club. After graduating from High school, Sergeant Shepard was employed as a cook at a local restaurant where he worked his way up to an Assistant Manager. He subsequently enlisted in the Air Force in 2012 and arrived at Lackland AFB, Texas for basic training the same year. Upon Graduation, he attended the Air Transportation Technical Training School at Fort Lee, Virginia. Following technical training, Sergeant Shepard received orders to his first duty station at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson, Alaska. While at JBER he served as a Passenger Service Agent and Base Honor Guardsman, he dedicated a significant amount of time to the Joint Base Against Drunk Driving program, and Habitat for Humanity. In 2016 Sergeant Shepard had a Permanent Change of Station to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii where he served as a Parachute Rigger, Combat Mobility Flight Team Member, and CMF Team Chief. During his tenure at Hickam AFB, HI Sergeant Shepard was active in the Base Honor Guard serving as both a trainer and a Guardsman. In 2020 Sergeant Shepard received orders back to JBER, AK where he currently serves as Flight Chief for Combat Readiness. He dedicates his off-duty time to serving as the Alaska Wing Commanders Command NCO and leads Honor Guard training for the University of Anchorage Alaska ROTC Detachment. He has deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
