2021 Alaska Wing Summer Encampment

The 2021 AKWG Summer Encampment is a week-long activity that serves to provide the cadet with a foundation from which to build on their Civil Air Patrol careers. The encampment will provide cadets with the opportunity to:
- Apply knowledge gained in the cadet and senior programs to practical situations.
- Develop a greater understanding of Civil Air Patrol and Air Force missions and capabilities.
- Develop leadership potential, discipline, time-management, and interpersonal skills.
- Learn how to overcome challenges and succeed through critical thinking.
- Enhance their local unit’s cadet program.
- Aid in retention and motivation.
- Receive an introduction to the military-style training of the Civil Air Patrol.
- Build self-confidence.
- Experience esprit de corps and the warrior spirit.
First-time cadets can expect to be challenged both mentally and physically during a busy and exciting week of hands-on leadership development training, aerospace events and local on-site activities. Cadets returning as staff will be challenged even further through the leadership roles they will fill and staff duties they will perform. All cadets will be introduced to the military, learn to overcome challenges, develop time-management skills, enhance their interpersonal skills and have a great time.

First-time cadets must have completed their Curry Achievement and attained the rank of Cadet Airman (C/Amn) before arriving at encampment.
Cadet cadre registrants must have earned the Wright Brothers Award (C/SSgt) (verified in eServices), completed Operational Risk Management Basic and Intermediate Courses, and Introductory Communications User Training (ICUT) prior to arriving at encampment. For cadets 18 and older, completion of Cadet Protection Policy Training is required prior to encampment. Note: Cadet Cadre have been selected for this year's encampment.
Senior Member staff must have completed Level 1, Operational Risk Management Basic and Intermediate Courses, and the Cadet Protection Policy Training courses are required prior to arriving at encampment. Completion of ICUT is highly recommended.

There are two payment methods: on-line and off-line. On-line payment will be made with a credit card during the registration process. Off-line payment: If you select “Offline" on the Billing Information screen during the registration process, an invoice will be sent to you shortly after you complete the registration. If you do not see it soon after you complete registration, please check you spam and junk email folders. Due to the compressed time frame, you will be responsible for submitting a check to “Alaska Wing CAP” within 3 days of completing your registration, and no later than 7 June 2021, to the following address:

Cadet Encampment Assistance Program (CEAP)
TIME SENSITIVE - The application period for this year's CEAP closes at 11:59 PM Alaska time on Monday 24 May. All cadets applying for CEAP must complete their application in eServices prior to this time to be considered.

Due to the complexities of the current health posture and NHQ processes, requests for financial assistance via the CEAP program will be managed online through eServices as national funding and cadet eligibility allows. All cadets may apply and priority will be given first-time student participants. Please contact your unit’s Deputy Commander for Cadets for further information.
All refund requests must be made directly to the Alaska Wing Senior Administrator at email@example.com. Refunds requested prior to the refund request deadline of 7 June 2021 will be honored in full. Any request for refund after 7 June 2021 will be processed at the discretion of the Encampment Commander, who will have the final authority in deciding refund requests. Cadets paying for encampment and then later receiving CEAP funding will have their initial payment refunded regardless of date.
Failure to Pay
Any member failing to provide fee payment by 7 June 2021 will forfeit their encampment slot. Extensions to the payment deadline may be granted by the Encampment Commander for extenuating circumstances. These requests must be sent directly to the Encampment Commander for approval. Any member with outstanding fees will be prohibited from attending any other wing, region, or national activity until payment is made.
Types of Registrants
Cadet Student: A first-time encampment attendee, or a returning cadet that did not graduate from a previous encampment, is a Cadet Student.
Cadet Cadre: The Cadet Cadre, or Cadet Staff, is selected by the Cadet Executive Cadre to serve in the positions of Flight Sergeant and above, including administrative support positions.
Senior Member Cadre: Senior members staffing encampment apply under this category.
Register early. The encampment is limited by the available space and cannot accommodate additional cadets. The total number of cadet students that the encampment can accommodate is limited. Once registration is full you can be placed on a wait list.
Please read this entire webpage before you start the registration process. You will be asked to confirm that you read this entire webpage before you can open the registration page.
Select the correct category (i.e., student, Cadre, senior member). If you change your mind and want to select a different category, exit the process and start over. Most of the registration process is self-explanatory; however, some items are specific to the registration selected and will be explained below. Items with an asterisk are required and need to be completed before continuing.
Several forms are required for registration. Links and instructions for each of the forms are provided below. Complete the forms, sign them, scan each form separately (scan two-page forms as one file), then upload them during the registration process. High-quality scans can be made and easily uploaded using your smartphone, for detailed instructions, (click here). Please do not upload pictures.
More than one registrant can be registered in a session. After completing the first registrant you will be prompted to either “Save Registrant” or “Go to Billing.” Select "Save Registrant" and then "Add Registrant." After all registrants have been entered, select "Go to Billing."
If your information changes after you have completed the registration process (e.g., email address, phone number, mailing address, etc.), email the updated information to email@example.com, and please include the cadet's CAP ID, name, and "Updated Contact Information" in the subject line.
If you are going to or have already applied for CEAP, select “yes” under the correct question and your encampment fee will be reduced to $0. If you are later denied CEAP funding, then you will be responsible for the cost of the encampment. An invoice with payment instructions will be sent to you via email.
You are encouraged to apply for encampment before the opening of the CEAP application process, since the roster may be filled before CEAP opens.
The Cadet Cadre selection has been completed. Cadets selected for cadre (that process is separate from registration) should register as early as possible.
Senior members that staff encampment register under this option. Senior Members planning to attend less than the full week should still register in this category and note their availability under “Additional Information.”
Signatures must be hand written on the forms. Typed signatures will not be accepted.

After completing the registration process, you will immediately receive a confirmation email. Also, a spreadsheet that tracks cadets registering, forms completed and confirmation for Attendance is attached at the end of this page. It will be updated every few days, please check the date on the spreadsheet. The 2021 AKWG Summer Encampment Commander reserves the right to prioritize slots to ensure an equitable distribution of slots across the units of the Alaska Wing as well as targeting cadets who are at/above the cadet grade of Cadet Senior Master Sergeant.
All encampment participants will experience long, demanding, and very active days. Cadets can expect to be active 16 hours a day. To be successful at encampment, prior preparation is critical. Arrive at encampment with the correct equipment, well rested, and hydrated. Proper hydration will help prevent many common encampment injuries and serve to keep you healthy during a demanding week. Cadets should study available encampment materials prior to encampment. Links to the CAP encampment guide, handbook, and study materials are provided below.
The most common injury at encampment is blisters from brand-new boots. Cadets will spend a lot of time on their feet. Buy your boots and dress shoes well ahead of the encampment and break them in before encampment starts.
Cadet students arriving from out of the local area via airlines should arrive at the Anchorage International Airport on the morning of 13 June 2021. All cadets planning to arrive at the Anchorage International Airport will be contacted by the Transportation Officer and arrangements will be made to transport those cadets to the encampment and back to the airport at the end of the encampment. Attendees leaving the encampment via airlines should plan on arriving at the airport no earlier than 2100 hours (9 pm) on Saturday 19 June.
All current Federal, State of Alaska and CAP travel guidance will be followed.
Cadet students arriving from distant squadrons via ground transportation before 14:00 on 13 June 2021 should coordinate their arrival with the Encampment Commander.
Lodging, food or ground transportation will not be available for cadet students arriving before 14:00 on 13 June 2021.
Cadets who drive to encampment must turn in their vehicle keys to the senior staff upon arrival. Cadets will not drive during encampment.
ARRIVAL / IN-PROCESSING
Cadet cadre will arrive at encampment on 10 June 2021. They will be contacted in advance, and detailed check-in and arrival arrangements will be provided.
Cadet students shall arrive between 14:00 and 15:00 (2:00 and 3:00 pm) Alaska time on 13 June 2021 for in-processing. The arrival point will be the parking lot at the D Street gate at Fort Richardson (Click here for map). Uniformed CAP personnel will be at the gate and will help cadets board CAP vehicles to be transported to the encampment.
Parents please note, this will likely be the last time that you will see or hear from your child until graduation at 18:30 on 19 June 2021. Be sure to say good-bye to your child when dropping them off, and please make sure they have been well fed before arriving, as lunch will not be served on the first day.
Cadets will not drive themselves on base to the encampment. Cadets that drive themselves to the D Street gate will have to arrange for an escort onto base and will turn in their vehicle keys once parked at the encampment site.
Early or late arrivals must be coordinated with the Encampment Commander.
Visitors are not allowed or authorized at encampment without written permission (may be via email) directly from the Encampment Commander. The encampment takes place on a military installation and, due to Department of Defense security requirements and for the safety and security of all CAP personnel, unscheduled or uncoordinated visitation is prohibited. This restriction applies to family and friends of encampment participants as well as CAP members not assigned to the encampment.
GRADUATION AND DISMISSAL
The graduation ceremony will commence at 18:30 on Saturday 19 June 2021 at the (Location TBD). Guests are asked to not arrive until after 18:00. More details, including the procedure for getting to the graduation site will be provided closer to graduation. Guests will be directed to the graduation parking area upon arrival. Students will be dismissed after graduation and out-processing is complete.
