AKWG 2026 Encampment Arrival / Travel Information
(cao 16 MAY 2026)
ARRIVAL / IN-PROCESSING
Cadet First Time Students shall arrive between 1300 and 1400 (1:00 pm and 2:00 pm) Alaska time on Sunday, 7 June 2026 for in-processing. The arrival point will be the parking lot at the BONIFACE GATE VISITOR CONTROL CENTER FOR JBER. Uniformed CAP personnel will be at the gate and will help cadets board CAP vehicles to be transported to the encampment. *Note – this gate will be closed starting 8 June for renovation – we will use the Fort Rich Gate for Dismissal
Parents please note: this will likely be the last time that you will see or hear from your child until graduation at 18:00 on Saturday, 13 June 2026. Be sure to say goodbye to your child when dropping them off, and please make sure they have been well fed before arriving, as lunch will not be served on the first day. Cadet Cadre will arrive between 0830 and 0900 on Thursday, 4 June 2026. They will be contacted in advance by their chain of command, and detailed check-in and arrival arrangements will be provided.
Cadets will not drive themselves on the base to the encampment location. Cadets that drive themselves to the Boniface gate will have to arrange for a vehicle escort onto base and will turn in their vehicle keys once parked at the encampment site.
Early or late arrivals must be coordinated with the Encampment Commander. Those arriving via airline follow the guidelines below.
Cadet first time students arriving from distant squadrons via ground transportation before 13:00 on 7 June 2026 should coordinate their arrival with the Encampment Commander via the encampment email.
AIRLINE TRANSPORTATION
Arrival to Encampment:
Cadet First Time Students arriving via airlines should arrive at the Anchorage International Airport (Airport Code: ANC) on the morning of 7 June 2026. All cadets planning to arrive at the Anchorage International Airport need to email the Transportation Officer and CC the encampment a copy of their itinerary. Title the subject line of the email “Airline Itinerary ‘Cadet Name - Last First’ date airline and flight number’
Example: Airline Itinerary Feik Mary 7 June Alaska 289
Arrangements will be made to transport those cadets from the airport to the encampment and back to the airport at the end of the encampment. Preferred arrival time at the airport is 0900 to Noon on June 7 – if possible, arrive at the airport no later than 1600 on June 7. Due to airline schedules, the encampment is flexible for airport arrivals.
Put pertinent information in the email, such as if there is only a need to be brought to the encampment – in such that parent(s) will be at graduation and take cadets from there. Or that you wish to use the airlines unaccompanied minor process, and details can then be coordinated.

Cadet Cadre arriving from out of the local area via airlines should preferably arrive at the Anchorage International Airport (Airport Code: ANC) on the morning of 4 June 2026. However due to airline schedules – arrive on 4 June as early in the daytime as practical. Follow the email instructions with itinerary details as outlined in the First Time Student section.
Departing the Encampment:
Attendees leaving the encampment via airlines should plan to arrive at the Anchorage airport no earlier than 2100 hours (9 pm) on Saturday 13 June 2026. Remember to allow the time that the airlines direct to get checked into your flight and through security prior to the boarding time. Currently Anchorage International Airport recommends 2 hours – So 2300 hours (11pm) on Saturday 13 June would be the suggested earliest. Allowance will be made for cadets to leave Sunday morning as needed.
All current Federal, State of Alaska and CAP travel guidance will be followed.
Lodging, food, or ground transportation onto the installation will not be available for cadet students arriving before 13:00 on 7 June 2026.
Privately-Owned Vehicles
Cadets who drive to encampment must turn in their vehicle keys to the senior staff upon arrival. Cadets, including cadet staff/cadre, will not drive during encampment unless specifically directed to do so.
